The once bustling Maogangwei Port endured the effects of the strong adverse wind blowing into the inland sea, gradually silting into a fertile land, where the Tainan No. 16 rice was successfully cultivated and produced the fine Maogang sake. The packaging of Maogang sake draws inspiration from this history, using Chinese watercolor and ink to depict the change from the blue Maogangwei Port during Kangxi era to the present green fertile fields. A boat imagery is added into the character for "port," highlighting the impression of port. The golden embellishments on the packaging symbolize the transformation from muddy sludge to today's golden rice ears, which results in fine Maogang sake.
